Pavilion Update

December 2, 2009

The piling foundation installation has been completed. The next activity is to cut the piles to the level of the new pavilion floor. A steel ring beam will then be installed and the floor installed. Once the floor is installed the frame of the building can be constructed.
It is expected that the floor will be installed during January 2010.
Rattlesden Community Council would like to thank the whole village plus funding bodies for their continued support.

The Rattlesen Community Council Barn Dance will be held on 26th September this year at Punchards Farm. Please contact any member of the Community Council to reserve tickets.

The annual Rattlesden Community Council Ball is on Saturday 13th June. Live music by Night Train (www.nighttrainlive.com). Contact any member of the Community Council for tickets.

We are delighted to announce that the Youth Community Council has secured a grant of £10,000 from the Suffolk Youth & Connexions Service towards the construction of the new pavilion. Our thanks go to Alfie Butler, Phoebe Evans, Charlotte Evans, Emma Shenton & Melissa van der Ree for their hard work and dedication in securing this grant which is a valuable contribution to the pavilion fund.

An ash tree at the north edge of the playing field is to be professionally felled for safety reasons.

RCC are hoping that there will be resulting firewood available to help offset the cost of felling the tree.

Please contact an RCC member if you would be interested in this wood.

RCC has received a £20,000 pledge from Mid Suffolk District Council under the Community Projects scheme. This is our largest single grant to date.

David Ruffley MP has kindly provided a letter of support to RCC to assist with our funding applications.

David Ruffley wrote “Rattlesden Community Council has prepared an excellent, well researched business plan for their pavilion project, following full consultation with local residents. The proposed new pavilion will benefit all sections of the community”

The annual spring ball held in the village hall was attended by 75 people and raised over £1,000 towards the new pavilion. The committee would like to thank all those that attended this very enjoyable event. Special thanks go to the very generous donation from Jamie Baker and from Pat Mead. Thank you also to our sponsors, Clydesdale Bank PLC, Woolpit Garden Centre and Waitrose Supermarkets

Councillor Penny Otton has agreed to provide Rattlesden Community Council with a £1,000 grant from her locality budget. This is to be used towards the Pavilion Replacement Fund. In support of our project Penny Otton wrote:

“I fully support the initiative taken by the Community Council to seek grants for the replacement of this building which is a vital part of the social and recreational side of the Rattlesden Village Community and have shown my support by agreeing a sum of £1,000 from my small locality budget”
